Who we mean
Turk
The person. A native or inhabitant of Türkiye, or a person of Turkish descent. Every citizen of Türkiye is a Turk.
Turkish
The adjective, and the language. Turkish is not a separate nationality. It is the official language of Türkiye.
Turkic
The wider family: peoples who speak a Turkic language. Azerbaijanis, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, Turkmen and Uzbeks are Turkic, not Turkish.
Six states
Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. In each, a Turkic language is a language of the state.
Why join us?
Signing in on this site is free. Members can take part in the forum, open the resource library, and receive the newsletter, so that news and calls do not pass them by.
This group works on integrating content and language in higher education in the Turkic countries, and among Turkic-speaking minorities elsewhere. If that is your research, you will find colleagues here. If you want to learn more about these contexts, you are just as welcome.
After you sign up, complete your profile with your academic institution and your professional goals. Open ICLHE for membership of our parent organisation. If you are already a member, click that option and the badge appears on your profile. If you are not a member yet, I am not a member yet opens www.iclhe.org.

Plans for the year
Regional meetings, online events, newsletters and many more will be announced soon.
