Turkic RG Leader
Mehmet Altay is an Associate Professor of TESOL at Kocaeli University in Türkiye. His research focuses on English-medium instruction (EMI), English as an Academic Lingua Franca (ELFA), and English for Academic Purposes (EAP). His interests also include interdisciplinary competence and transversal skills, particularly how students learn and work across disciplinary boundaries. He directs an eye-tracking lab and is the principal investigator of research examining ELFA in EMI settings.
His work has appeared in journals including Language Awareness, System, Journal of English for Academic Purposes, Journal of English-Medium Instruction, and Applied Linguistics Review.

Turkic RG Leader
Dogan Yuksel is a Research Fellow on the UKRI-funded ELEMENTAL project at The Open University, UK, and a Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages at Kocaeli University, Turkey. He also serves as Head of the Scientific Team for the English-Medium Instruction (EMI) Special Interest Group (SIG) of the British Association for Applied Linguistics (BAAL). His research interests include classroom discourse and English-medium instruction, with a particular focus on the relationships between language proficiency, learner characteristics, and academic achievement. His work also examines translanguaging practices and attitudes, language policy, and the internationalisation of higher education. His recent research explores the adoption and use of generative artificial intelligence in EMI settings, including its relationship with language learning and academic performance.
His EMI-related work has appeared in journals including Applied Linguistics, Higher Education, Language Teaching Research, Linguistics and Education, Journal of English for Academic Purposes, Applied Linguistics Review, and System.
